Diecast Model Scale Truck
Ertl Toy Tractors In more than one respect, Ertl, long the most celebrated name in diecast toy tractors, is much like Tonka: both were founded shortly after World War II in the basements of enterprising Midwesterners. Although Ertl, also like Tonka, has produced countless toy trucks, this book focuses solely on the Iowa toymaker's true bread and butter: toy tractors produced from 1945 to present. Two hundred color photos depict Ertl's 1/16- and 1/64-scale tractors, as well as pedal tractors, up close with theater-gel backgrounds, diecast implements, and the sort of plastic injection-molded farmers and livestock with which Ertl has often packaged its tractors. Accompanying the photography is the story of how this Dyersville-based company grew by leaps and bounds, including founder Fred Ertls' first licensing of some of these companies' names and actual designs in 1945, the family-based assembly line he and his wife established in their home, Ertl's renowned commitment to quality, and the incredible detail that goes into today's precision-made scale models.
Model commercial vehicle - A model commercial vehicle is a scale model that represents a commercial vehicle -- truck (lorry), bus, etc. -- generally reproducing actually produced vehicles. Model military vehicle - A model military vehicle is a scale replica which represents a military vehicle -- tank or other armored fighting vehicle, artillery, truck (lorry), Jeep, etc. Main scales are 1/16, 1/35th and 1/48th, though many other scales have been used in production kits. Scale model - A scale model is a representation or copy of an object that is larger or smaller than the actual size of the object being represented. Very often the scale model is smaller than the original and used as a guide to making the object in full size. Kit-bash - Kit-bash (or Kit-bashing ) is a scale modeler's term which describes the process of modifying a commercially available model kit (such as a armored vehicle, a truck, or a locomotive) into a unique or otherwise unavailable model (this term is also applicable when converting a not-too-finely detailed or incorrectly molded model into a more accurate version of the prototype).
